About Khalwat

Khalwat is a non-profit organization committed to philosophy and spiritual studies. Our serene and transformative space offers a retreat from the distractions of daily life, guiding you on a profound journey of self-discovery, inner peace, and intellectual enrichment.

Our Mission

At Khalwat, we believe that true peace and healing come from within. Our practices are rooted in ancient philosophical & spiritual wisdom, designed to help you quiet the mind, open the heart, and awaken the soul. We aim to transcend the limitations of materialist metaphysics, recognizing that consciousness is not merely a byproduct of physical processes but a fundamental aspect of the universe.

The Challenge

In today's world, we often find ourselves constrained by a materialist metaphysics—the belief that all that exists is matter, an abstract entity perceived as separate and independent from consciousness. This perspective, often mistaken for the essence of science, restricts our understanding of reality. The scientific method is a tool to understand how nature behaves, not to define the true nature of existence.

This materialist view gained widespread acceptance in the latter half of the nineteenth century. However, its continued dominance is more a result of intellectual inertia and inherited assumptions than of rigorous reasoning, solid evidence, or explanatory power. Recent evidence from foundational physics, neuroscience, and analytic philosophy increasingly challenges the validity of materialism.

Despite these challenges, the cultural dominance of materialist metaphysics continues to have far-reaching—and often detrimental—implications for both individuals and society. It influences our sense of meaning and purpose, shapes our value systems, affects our understanding of health, disease, and death, and impacts how we relate to others, the planet, and even ourselves.

We invite you to join us at Khalwat - Centre for Philosophy & Spirituality. Together, let us explore the uncharted territories of the mind and spirit, guided by the wisdom of the ages and the insights of modern thought. In doing so, we can challenge the prevailing materialist metaphysics and cultivate a deeper, more meaningful understanding of our existence and consciousness.
